Stocks, Bitcoin, and even the 10-year are all falling ahead of earnings season. The market downturn is led by Twitter who is suing Elon Musk in effort to force him to buy the company. Elon still has hesitations because of the disputed number of spam/bot accounts twitter has. The one thing analysts agree on is that no matter what the result, the lawsuit will hurt Twitter.

 

Texas has a Power Problem. The Texas power grid struggled back in February when millions lost power due to a winter storm and now Texas is experiencing record level heat (110-degrees in Austin this past Sunday). This high heat is causing a high demand for power. Texas state officials asked residents to conserve energy by not running major appliances yesterday from 2pm-8pm. All these power problems are because of a decaying infrastructure in a very large state and the fact that wind power is not reliable at all in the state of Texas (Your lucky if you can catch even a hint of a breeze).

The NFT craze may be crashing. For the first time in a year the monthly sales of NFT's came in below $1B and the largest NFT marketplace OpenSea lost 70% of its revenue from just a month prior. This may just be another indicator that the economy is tightening, and people do not have the luxury dollars they did a few months back.

 

Dippin' Dots was just purchased by J&J Snack Foods for $222M. This purchase just breathed life into the novelty Ice Cream company that was much needed. Dippin' Dots filed for Bankruptcy in 2011 and had a major plant explosion in 2019 that crippled its business.

 

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey just passed a law that would make it illegal to film law enforcement officers at close range in certain circumstances. Is this a good that will help protect police from getting lambasted online? Or is this an ill that infringes on 1st amendment rights and will let cops get away with unfavorable behavior? Most likely that decision will be made by the supreme court, as that is where most think this bill will end up. 

 

Should you be able to use the carpool lane if Pregnant? In Texas, a 34-week pregnant woman named Brandy got pulled over for riding in the carpool lane and got a ticket. She thinks her Baby should count as a person and give her the privilege to drive in the carpool lane. Brandy will be taking legal action. The case will be unique to say the least as the state's penal code considers a fetus a human being, but the transportation code does not. This case is a bit silly, but it could have serious ramifications depending on how much attention it gets.
