Stocks did tick up yesterday after a few retailers posted stronger than
expected earnings ahead of Black Friday. Check out American Eagle in the chart above.
The Student Loan repayments have been pushed back again!!! Instead of payments being reactivated on New Year's
Day they will not be reinstated until June 30th, 2023. This is a move by the Biden administration to ease the fallout of the student loan debt forgiveness plan being held up in the courts.
FTX imploded and lawyers say that the founder and former CEO SBF spent
over $300 million on real estate for senior staffers and his parents. SBF was a self-professed "Effective Altruist" and gave
away millions to charities he agreed with and planned to give away $1 billion to the left wing in the 2024 elections, but it turns out he was also helping the already rich (his parents are both professors at Stanford Law School) gain even more property and wealth.
The
Biden administration has failed to appease the largest rail union and a potential railroad strike could be inevitable right before Christmas. A railroad strike of this size could be catastrophic for the economy as many goods are still transported by train, much to the surprise of many. Food shortages and Chemical shipments and everything in between would be affected by a railroad strike. Some estimates say a railroad strike could cost the US economy $2 billion per day. The union workers want
a pay increase of 24% and more staff added to the workforce. This is coming from a promise to the railroad workers that a pay increase would happen and the fact that the industry lost and never regained about 30% of its workforce because of the pandemic.
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar is a political nightmare as expected. Qatar won the bid to host this year's World Cup by what many claim to be FIFA corruption/Qatar bribery and even though games have started many controversies keep coming to the surface. Qatar is essentially a dry company with some of the world's strictest alcohol laws (there are only two liquor stores in the whole country), homosexuality is illegal in Qatar, and
many migrant workers have died in Qatar as the country prepared to host the World Cup. A good story on everything going on can be found HERE (Liberal source). Also, the US had a draw with Whales in their first match (Whales has a population of 3.1 million).
Alex Jones has been ordered by Court to pay $1 billion to families affected by the Sandy Hook shooting for claiming the shooting was a hoax. This is an awful move by
both Alex Jones and the court system. Alex Jones, because of his broad reach and established platform Infowars was able to convince many of his listeners that the shooting was a hoax, and this resulted in people sending death threats to families who lost loved ones. This is all tragic and it could possibly be spun into a case against the internet as a whole but the court ordering Alex Jones to pay up for saying something he believed and then apologized for is flirting with a very slippery free
speech slope. Now if Alex Jones or others were to threaten to harm someone, legal action should be taken, but it seems that this is not the case for Alex Jones personally.
Grindr, and LGBTQ geared dating app went public via a SPAC merger and the stock soared. A drag show outside the NYSE was put on by Grindr to attract attention. Now, this is
of course awful and tragic for our society but let's really think about the stock market for a second. Grindr is an app that caters to a small niche of people, a very generous estimate is that 8% of the US population falls under the umbrella of LGBTQ. That is roughly 20 million people. 11 million people are said to be on Grindr (I know...Gross). But with all this information in mind, why would anyone care about Grindr stock if stocks were actually attached to the production of goods and
services. It is a service that has already maxed out its customer base, and it has very limited ways in monetizing itself that won't cause its users to leave. So why the soaring price? The answer, because stock price is not tied to services or goods it is just whether or not something is "trendy" and unfortunately an LGBTQ hookup app is what is "trendy" in our society today.
