If you are an avid listener to economic or political podcasts and a voracious reader of journals with the same focus, then you are probably getting a lot of doom and
gloom in your content diet. Average car payments are up to $700/month, interest rates are crazy high, inflation isn't cooling as fast as people would like, and housing seems completely unaffordable for the vast majority of us. All this seems to be due to either incompetence or corruption. However, I am here to tell you that there is Joy to be taken out of all of this bleakness.
We know that money begets power and power usually begets corruption. It is why we are always skeptical of the wealthy and the powerful. But as we Christians know; the Truth always reigns supreme, and God can bring out miraculous good even from the worst
evils.
Take the 2008 housing crash for example. Back then lenders were giving out loans to anyone who walked in the door and then some. Now, even though
some numbers are even worse than 2008, lenders and buyers are looking at household income with more scrutiny. This is why the above video says that there will not be as many foreclosures in the upcoming crash as there were in the 2008 crash. Looking more closely at household income seems like common sense but humanity always needs to be reminded in serious ways to utilize our common sense.
My point is this, Through the bad times our Lord gives us the chance to reshape things. Sometimes we reshape things for the better and sometimes we do the opposite. We will never get it all 100% correct because we are flawed human beings, but we can take
joy in the fact that God is giving us a chance to reshape things for the better. And He will keep giving us these chances.
You can either despair when you see
corruption and live through bad times, or you can view it as an opportunity and do the work with Joy in your heart because you know that our Savior lives and the battle is already won.
