Matthe Pinto, the founder of Ascencion Presents and a friend of mine, is starting a new business podcast for Catholics. Matthew and I may not agree on everything down to the letter when it comes to markets and finance, but this podcast is sure to be a great alternative to what the secular community is offering.

The Catholic Entrepreneur is a bi-weekly podcast hosted by Matthew Pinto, founder and president emeritus of Ascension Press.

Through engaging interviews with successful entrepreneurs, executives, and ministry leaders, we encourage and help form Catholic entrepreneurs.

The show is targeted towards:

· Catholics who run secular businesses.

· Catholics who run specifically Catholic businesses, and

· Priests and religious with an entrepreneurial spirit.

• The markets had a rough start to June because an error in the NYSE incorrectly made it appear that some stocks suffered steep declines to start the month. Some stocks that were not even affected by the error suffered the consequences because all investors care about is what pops up on their computer screen. 

• Zero down Home Mortgages are making a comeback. The last time they were a thing...2008. Anyone remember what happened that year?!?! The Zero down mortgage programs prey on low-income earners looking to own a home. The problem is they are financed to the gill with 100% of the home value. So, if their home dips in value or they have to sell quickly, the financial problems are immense.

• President Biden signed an executive order that people can only claim asylum if they are one of the first 2,500 people that cross illegally from Mexico into the US in a single day. Just try to digest that sentence for a while. Of course, the daily illegal crossings far exceed the 2,500 number. Not to worry though, once the daily number dips below 1,500, then anyone crossing can claim asylum.

• E*Trade is thinking about banning Kieth Gill from trading on their platform because of Market Manipulation concerns. Gill is the meme stock mastermind behind the GameStop story of 2021. Gill has recently positioned himself in place to cash out nearly $700M in GameStop stock. The bigger players hate him because he is doing what they do, but on a smaller scale. banning someone for manipulating the stock market is like banning a basketball player from the NBA for being too good at basketball.

• Toyota, Honda, and Mazda all are in the hot seat for cheating on certification tests for certain vehicles. The companies have apologized and gone back to the drawing board.

• Twitter is now going to allow "Not Safe For Work" content on its platform as long as it is clearly marked. For those like myself who do not know what NSFW content really is, it is content like pornography and graphic violence. Does anyone still genuinely defend social media at this point?

• Mexico just elected its first female president, Claudia Sheinbaum. Sheinbaum is a climate scientist and the protege of outgoing president Andres Obrador. Her main initiatives are that of her predecessor, increase welfare and fight organized crime. Given that 38 candidates were murdered during this election cycle in Mexico it makes you think that organized crime is not going anywhere for our southern neighbor. And if she is so tough on crime, why was she not number 39 on that hit list?? But hey, at least she is going to give out more welfare!! That is a good thing...Right?! Oh, and she promotes Abortion and Gender Ideology.
