Weekly Rant - Agree or Disagree?!

Below is a mishmash of hot takes I routinely stand by. I think they all have financial underpinnings. Respond to this email and let me know which ones you want to dive deeper into. Also, let me know if you agree or disagree!!!

#1- Modern ideas of retirement are completely counter to Christian virtue. A related notion, but one I hold more loosely is...The only way a wealthy person can become a saint is to give away their wealth. 

#2 - Professional Sports is a sign of a depraved society.

#3 - AI will absolutely take over our world, make us dumber than we already are and enable the demonic to communicate with us in more direct ways.

#4 - Anything started solely because of perceived opposition is intrinsically flawed. Yet, this is predominantly how we interact with the world around us. THINK: Knights of Columbus started to oppose Free Masons. OR people attending a church or sending their kid to a religious school because they dislike woke ideology. Only do a thing or commit yourself to a thing because it is good in of itself.

#5 - The entirety of welfare programs and child alimony laws should be abolished, and taxes cut proportionally. Allow the churches to pick back up what they once put down.

#6 - Public grade school is something that has been a plague on society. Even the structure of great private Christian schools is immensely problematic and barely redeemable. Children sitting in desks for 6 hrs. a day, 180 days per year for 12+ years is absolutely ridiculous. No offense to the amazing teachers out there doing great work!!

#7 - I completely agree with Dr. Jordan Peterson that asking if someone 'believes in God?' is a philosophically meaningless question.

• BREAKING!!! Joey Chestnut has ban banned from the 4th of July Nathans Hot dog eating contest, because he has a sponsorship deal with vegan "meat" company Impossible Foods. What a tragedy!!

• Consumer prices rose 3.3% in May compared to a year ago. This is slightly better than what economists predicted. The Fed is thought to hold interest rates where they are at for the moment. Food was a bright spot in that prices at the grocery store only rose 2.1% when compared to May of last year. 

• BYD, the Chinese Electric Vehicle Maker, surpassed Tesla as the largest EV maker in the world last year just posted strong May Numbers. BYD is set to launch its bestselling EV in Europe next year. This particular model by BYD is cheap and has luxury features, so European car makers are nervous about losing share in the industry.

• California just passed a $20/hr minimum wage for Fast-food workers. In completely unrelated news, In-N-Out now charges over $10 for a double-double burger meal.

• Over 25% of gen Zers say they follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. Lord have mercy!! I wonder how many of those in the 25% are Pro-Abortion.

• Bill Gates just opened a next gen nuclear power plant outside a small Wyoming town (it is not yet operational and won't be for some time). I disagree with most of what Bill Gates does, but I do think nuclear energy is the clear option for the future. The US has only built two nuclear reactors in the last 30 years, but the Bill Gates sponsored reactor is said to be smaller, cheaper and actually has a chance of being completed. Many critics think the design of the new reactor is just not feasible, especially because it is going to be so expensive.

• Personalized pricing may be a trend in the near future. Algorithms gobbling up data on your spending habits and your income may incentivize everything from fast food chains to car dealerships to charge you more or less than your friend for the same item. Think: I have a lower income then my buddy, and he goes out to eat way more, therefore Applebee's only charges me $18 for the same meal that my friend spends $26 on. It seems ridiculous. but AI data collection may make it possible and lucrative for specific industries.

• Microsoft, Nvidia, and Apple account for more than 20% of the value of the S&P 500. The market is on a bit of a rally right now, but the bottom of the S&P 500 will have to start rising for the rally to continue. Apple just soared to a record high thanks to its AI buzz.

• Left wing parties of Both France and Germany experienced election defeats last week. French Pres. Emmanuel Macron saw his party routed by the French right-wing party led by Marine Le Pen. Germany likewise saw its social democrats suffer their worse loss ever. The political swings in Europe are rocking the EU markets into a downward trend.
• Moderna has a new Covid+Flu vaccine shot. the two for one shot is also being developed by Pfizer and Novavax. Shots are predicted to be ready for Americans in 2025. The endless cash grab continues...

• Dock workers across the US are threatening a strike in their protests against automated machinery.
