The secondary market leads to a lot of disastrous things but chief among them is the erosion of the family. For those who have read the manuscript of the book already, I go into great detail about how the stock market has been a weapon against the nuclear family, and after reading the latest CDC data on birthrates in
the US I feel compelled to reiterate my case.
In 2023 only 3.6 million babies were born in the US, which is the lowest number of births since 1979. This puts the fertility rate at 1.6 births per woman, which is the lowest the number has been since the government started tracking it in 1930. With the baby boomer generation approaching the end of their life and millennials and
GenZer's not having kids, a real population problem is on the Horizon, something I have written about in the past.
How is this the fault of the Stock Market? Well, I am glad you asked!!! As I have said at nauseum, the mainstreamness of the market has shifted our financial reliance away from the family and placed it firmly in the hands of BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard and the
like. The rampant materialism that the market pushes on us via retirement accounts and a growth for the sake of growth economy is catastrophic for young people discerning marriage and children. We are told at every turn that this product, this vacation, this service will be the key to our happiness, when even the non-Christian knows the cliche of more money, more problems. We literally buy our own misery, and it is expensive!!
Having a kid means less free time, less money, fewer vacations, and fewer trips to our favorite restaurant. Our "instagrammed" society tells us we need these things to have joy, and companies must push this lie because if people do start having kids and lots of them then the miscellaneous spending stops, the company fails and the economy ultimately crashes.
Breaking free of the Matrix is a hard thing to do (I mean Ne-Yo is on his fifth movie and he still hasn't really broken free). Expecting the inherently ignorant youth of our time to collectively break free from this materialist economic machine we have spent generations building is foolish. The culture of death (abortion, Contraception, IVF) and hookup culture is a product of the materialism of our time, and that materialism is a cancer that is being
nurtured by the stock market. We must follow our conscience (AKA the Logos made flesh in our Lord Jesus Christ) and be the example of opposing the evil that is the secondary market. Future generations of souls depend on it.
