The below video is more than a year old, but it applies today more than ever. In the video CNBC discusses why they think poverty in America continues and what we could do to end it. I disagree with just about every word in this video, and books could be written about how wrong it is. Yet, I would like to draw your attention to a specific line of
thought.
- Poverty was on the decline until the pandemic hit.
- Minimum wage is too low, and this increases poverty.
- The US does not offer enough welfare programs.
- Poverty numbers are inflated because are measurements are bad (This I agree with).
- Government programs are the solution. Social security and Gov handouts during the pandemic are CNBCs proof of this.
- Universal Basic Income is the answer to solve
poverty.
