Affordable Child Care was a topic that came up in the comedy hour that was the US presidential Debate. The old guy with dementia told the other old guy that taxing the rich and/or providing universal day care is the solution to expensive childcare, then the discussion went dead so the two old guys could hurl insults at each other
about who was the bigger liar or better golfer....I mean come on, God has got to have a sense of humor, right?! The Alzheimer's patient and the Egomaniac are who we get to choose from to run the most powerful country the world has ever known? It is a great time to be the Babylon Bee right now, endless material for Satire!
I digress...
Child Care will never be affordable. Plain and simple. It is an economic impossibility. If both parents work and make money than the price of things will go up because of increased purchasing power. The purchasing power will increase the price of things in high demand first and foremost. Since childcare is needed for those who want to keep having two incomes, demand will be high for said childcare. Therefore, it will always
increase exponentially faster than just about everything else.
The only way to decrease the cost of childcare is for the vast majority of double income families to go back to a single income family and have a stay-at-home parent. Yet, given that would require a complete reversal in mainstream values it is hugely unlikely.
The way that the government proposes to decrease childcare costs is to tax the rich and subsidize the cost for lower income families. This will not work because frankly the rich cannot afford to subsidize everything like the left claims they can, but more practically this plan would just increase prices elsewhere in the economy. There is no such thing as a free lunch!!
If you see an economic problem, I guarantee the solution is not going to come from the government. The government can only produce band aids, never cures. The true cure lies in the saint producing vehicle of the family. We must build strong Christian families, communities and business in order to solve economic problems.
